In my gap year I helped teach theatre to first and second year students at my old high school. The students wrote their own scenes, and together with a drama teacher we wrote the script and directed the play. I also created the poster for the show, I created three versions of which the students chose their favourite.
The play was a so called collage-show, which means there isn’t a clear storyline but there is a collection of scenes surrounding a certain theme. Those scenes get put after each other with in this case a couple scenes to sketch somewhat of a story line in the show. The theme for this show was embarrassment, and how two different generations, teens and elders, look back on those moments.

Above you can see the three options I presented to the students. the first one is more based on some old technology and toys, since the play took place in ’70s. Personally I really like the detail of the tarot card with someone with their head in their hands and the cassette that say’s “niet afspelen!!” (don’t play!!) hinting to embarrassment. the other two are more about the sleepover part the teens are having with some old tech in there.
Below you can see the final poster design. The title “ver-jaar-dag” translates to Birthday but the direct translation is ver-year-day, so it has more than one meaning, it is about a birthdays and aging, but also about different generations/years.
